Tony Touch Return Of The Boom Bap Vol. 1

To make up for his missed appearance in June Dj Tony Touch came to Pittsburgh for The Return of BoomBap Vol. 1 featuring Varsity Squad, The 58s and Boaz.  The day started with a meet and greet with Toca at Timebomb.  It was a low-key event but a lot of people stopped through to meet Tony and to hear DJ Vex spin some classic hip-hop.  After the M&G we moved the party down to Shadow Lounge where Varsity Squad (Jon Quest and Beedie) got the festivities started.  The energy between the two emcee's is unmatched.  Jon and Beedie has a chemistry that you don't see often.  One of my favorite parts of their sets is how much DJ Drastik uses his mic to add to the hype.  Both Jon and Beedie do a great job of hyping for each other and creating an atmosphere that would draw the most reserved person in the house to the front of the stage screaming and waving their arms.  Following VS was B White, Mayo, Vinny Radio, Franchise and Ghosty of the 58s.  The crowd had the opportunity  to hear a new song from B White titled "The Money" which has most of us very excited for his upcoming mixtape dropping on August 25th.  Mayo played an excellent part of getting the crowd involved by venturing into the crowd and really getting them involved.  DJ Tom Dug added some ill cuts that added to the superb performance the rest of The 58s put on.  Boaz took the stage afterwards with his GOV brotherern S. Money for his set.  His presence on stage is unmatched.  He can take a crowd from completely hyped in stuck in awe by his powerful "Wise beyond age" lyrics.  After the local Emcee's were done killing shit Tony Touch took to the tables and spun a killer set of classic hip-hop mixed with almost every other type of sound you could want.  Through out the night hosts, Dos Noun and BZE, kept the crowd from not going anywhere by kickin ill freestyles and witty humor that the two are know for.  The night was a great success, thank you for everyone who came out and supported along with the artist and of course Tony Touch.  We would also like to thank Hank D for putting on an awesome set and help organizing the event.
