Rhyme Cal reaches Toronto!

Rhyme Calisthenics: The Official MC Competition has made its international debut in Toronto, Ontario.

Traveling from London, ON, rapper Casper garnered the night’s highest score with his performance of the Mackin’ challenge in the second round. His competitor, Tony Green, kept it close with unforgivingly raw rhymes, but in the end it was Casper’s positive and potent rhymes that impressed the panel of judges. Casper secured victory with an acapella in the final round, beginning his rhyme with “Listened to my daughter’s heartbeat and wrote a song to it”.

Casper is Canada’s first Rhyme Cal Champion! His new release, The Marcus Morris Mixtape Vol. 4, will be available on Nov.30 You can connect with Casper on Facebook and Twitter. Stay tuned to his YouTube channel for a new video that will be released later this week.
Extra special shout out to the event’s sponsors: Bad-Perm, Blasfome, The Come Up Show, Off The Strength, Timebomb Shop, TOgether Hip-Hop, Zolis Audio.

King of The Dot Presents: Jus Daze vs Hfk

Previously a staple of the now defunct Grind Time East Coast division, Jus Daze has been working his way through several leagues, battling opponents of various status and caliber along the way. With battles against Dirt, D'Meitz, and Cypher, the East Coast native has finally made his way north of the border to appear on King of the Dot. Known for his aggressive performance and ability to freestyle, his improvisational abilities have served him well, even landing him a spot on the Jimmy Fallon Show to perform. Gearing up for his debut Canadian performance, Jus Daze has accepted a battle with KOTD's own HFK, ready to prove himself and expand his audience to a wider fanbase.
Happy Faced Killer, known colloquially as HFK, has been seen in the King of the Dot ring more frequently than almost any other battle as of late. Participating in both Blackout 2 and World Domination 3, the Scarborough emcee has more than earned his stripes in the league, taking on anyone willing to step to him. With an impressive resume including the likes of Pat Stay, Dizaster, and Madness, HFK may not be in everyone's top ten, but he has certainly proven himself able to hang with some of the best. Battling now on the Grand Prix Final card, HFK takes on American Jus Daze, ready to continue proving himself a threat to the battle scene.

"The Labyrinth" Video [Crystal Seth X Bubba Sparxxx]

This was a great surprise to wake up to! We've all been waiting awhile for the visuals to the Seth X Bubba Sparxxx collab and today they deliver.  The track is off of Seth's upcoming project "District XXIII" which doesn't have a set date as of now but I'm hoping it will be out before the years end.  "The Labyrinth" is a track where Seth is asking a questions about life that can also be applied to music.  Bubba takes form of the teacher, or established artist, and helps Seth answer those questions.  The video also features two gorgeous girls beautifully dancing.  Shot by Matt Mehan, produced by Czientist and engineered by Soy.  The T-shirt Crystal Seth is wearing is available here!

RhymeCal Pittsburgh Video Recap

On October 26th 8 MC's faced off against the Wheel of Skillz in one the best RhymeCal competitions to date. After 3 closely contested rounds 3PFD came out on top and took the grand prize.

New Rhyme Cal Champion!

Nov. 1 - A long-time competitor, Christian rapper 3PFD is now a Rhyme Calisthenics champion.

It was a hard fought battle in Pittsburgh, as 3PFD beared through a sudden death overtime in the first round that eliminated the round's lowest scoring MC. After a dope performance of the Mackin' challenge in the second round, judge Dos Noun called 3PFD "a portly casanova." Also impressive in round two was New Jersey native Tony Green, who rocked a Crowd Topics that challenged him to discuss Mitt Romney in his rhyme. With scoring tight, it wasn't until the final round that 3PFD secured his victory by tearing through the Word Bank challenge.

The event also marked the release of the first Rhyme Calisthenics mixtape. The tape includes exclusive music from Rhyme Cal champions Real Deal (Pittsburgh), Zone (Pittsburgh), Black Sun (Pittsburgh), ZEPS (NYC), Jadon (NYC), PremRock (NYC), and Voss (Philly). Also featured on the project are Homeboy Sandman, Has-Lo, Pack FM, C-Rayz Walz, Beedie, and J. Sands. The mixtape will be made available digitally on Monday, Nov. 5, via Rhyme Cal's bandcamp.

Be on the lookout for upcoming Rhyme Cal events in Toronto on Nov. 16 and Boston on Dec. 6. Also, tune in to The Company Man Show on Tuesday, Nov. 6, as Rhyme Cal will be a featured guest.
