Daily Bread & StreetHeart present: Bad Santa Thursday December 19th

Tomorrow, Thursday the 19th, Daily Bread & StreetHeart are throwing a Christmas party at the Daily Bread Store (5450 Penn Ave).  The party starts at 6 PM;  Real Deal and Dos Noun will go on and freestyle at 8.  After their set Mars Jackson will perform followed by Lazer Crunk from 8:30 to 10.  I'ts free to come and get photos with santa unless you want a polaroid its $5. Bridge Opening Party This Saturday 11/9!

It was long awaited and the south highland ave bridge is finally completed!  It was a tough few months but TBC is back stronger than ever and this Saturday, November 9th, we are having a sale and party to celebrate.  All clothes will be 20% off and Sinners and Saints Tattoos will be running a 20% off tattoo sale that day as well.  Local artist will also be performing through out the night.  Starting at 5 PM, we will have some of the biggest up and coming Pittsburgh Hip-Hop artist performing in the store!  The Come Up, Beedie, Real Deal, B. Real Deal VS Rone [Battle Video]

Having attended every World Domination in the past, this year's event once again welcomed the familiar face of Philly's best active battle rapper: Rone. The Great White Hype has yet to reach his pinnacle, despite having amassed a resume in battling that includes names such as 360, Fresco, and Okwerdz, just to name a few. Balancing his battling with a successful music career, Rone has proven he is just as dope at writing songs as he is a verse for an opponent. A quick witted battler, his sharp tongue combined with an ever improving flow allows Rone to break down his opponents in the most efficient way possible, often giving him an edge in battles. Back in Toronto after posting a W over Dirtbag Dan just a week before, Rone takes on Real Deal in the clash of Pennsylvania. Representing Pittsburgh in this intra-state showdown, Real Deal is also no stranger to battling in Toronto. One of the few emcee's to transition into the URL stage and back, Real Deal is easily one of the most feared battlers on his generation. With battlers against The Saurus, B-Magic, and Cortez, RD has sharpened his sword over a long career, and still improves with every showing. Able to pick apart his opponents effortlessly, Real Deal utilizes both hard hitting bars and humor to make up his devastating style. Appearing in his second World Domination, Real Deal returns to Toronto to take on Rone in what was definitely one of the most memorable and insane battles of the event.

(Music Video) "Death of an Optimist" [Real Deal]

Real Deal is one of those emcee's that  truly embodies the 'Pittsburgh blue collar' work ethic.  He is currently working on his "Fight or Flight Mode" album while still battling, teaching, maintaining other jobs and raising his son.  Let's hope we see the album by March!

New Rhyme Cal Champion!

Nov. 1 - A long-time competitor, Christian rapper 3PFD is now a Rhyme Calisthenics champion.

It was a hard fought battle in Pittsburgh, as 3PFD beared through a sudden death overtime in the first round that eliminated the round's lowest scoring MC. After a dope performance of the Mackin' challenge in the second round, judge Dos Noun called 3PFD "a portly casanova." Also impressive in round two was New Jersey native Tony Green, who rocked a Crowd Topics that challenged him to discuss Mitt Romney in his rhyme. With scoring tight, it wasn't until the final round that 3PFD secured his victory by tearing through the Word Bank challenge.

The event also marked the release of the first Rhyme Calisthenics mixtape. The tape includes exclusive music from Rhyme Cal champions Real Deal (Pittsburgh), Zone (Pittsburgh), Black Sun (Pittsburgh), ZEPS (NYC), Jadon (NYC), PremRock (NYC), and Voss (Philly). Also featured on the project are Homeboy Sandman, Has-Lo, Pack FM, C-Rayz Walz, Beedie, and J. Sands. The mixtape will be made available digitally on Monday, Nov. 5, via Rhyme Cal's bandcamp.

Be on the lookout for upcoming Rhyme Cal events in Toronto on Nov. 16 and Boston on Dec. 6. Also, tune in to The Company Man Show on Tuesday, Nov. 6, as Rhyme Cal will be a featured guest.

iStandard is coming back to the Burgh!  Returning with iStandard is legendary producer Buckwild whom will be judging along side of J Fish and Rsonist.  The event will be going on Tuesday May 1st and Wednesday May 2nd.  Diesel is the venue and doors will be opening at 8:30 with performances starting at 9:30 followed by networking.  It's $15 dollars at the door or $20 for both nights.  You can order your tickets in advance here!  It's a 21 and over event so have your ID's ready and don't forget to dress neat.  Featured producers for the first night are Basement and Hit Project Inc followed by IPH and Premise the next night.  Along with all of that Beedie, Hubbs, B White and Jay Mel will be performing on Tuesday.  Wednesday Nico The Beast, Real Deal, Devine Seven and Worth Whyle will be performing.
